Jimmy Courtenay

James E. "Jimmy" Courtenay joined The King Firm in March of 2016 after spending 7.5 years at one of the oldest civil defense firms in New Orleans. Jimmy specialized in defending catastrophic loss cases, 18-wheeler accidents, and other large loss cases by land and by sea. Jimmy is rated AV Preeminent® by Martindale Hubbell and is a member of the American Bar Association Tort and Insurance Practice Section, the New Orleans Bar Association, and the Jefferson Parish Bar Association. Jimmy was selected as a "Rising Star" by Super Lawyers in 2015, 2016, and 2017. In college, Jimmy played football at LSU from 2000-2003, which culminated with the 2003 National Championship played here in New Orleans. After law school, Jimmy returned to New Orleans and played rugby with the New Orleans Rugby Football Club.

Jimmy obtained his law degree from Southern University Law Center in Baton Rouge (2008) and holds a Bachelors Degree (Accounting 2003) and Masters Degree (Public Administration 2005) from LSU. Jimmy was born and raised in New Orleans, graduating from Christian Brothers School and Jesuit High School. He now lives in New Orleans with his wife and three daughters.
